Kitsch pop twins the Cheeky Girls may have grown up in the eastern European country's fourth biggest city Cluj, but - on the cooler side of the tracks - Club Midi has been helping put the cultural centre on the international stage with a discerning booking policy and mad-for-it crowds. Club Midi opened its doors again in September after what owner Cristian describes as a "facelift".

The club's soundsystem was beefed up further and the lighting system added to for impressive cascading visual treats. Steve Lawler played the re-opening party, and since then cool international DJs like Magda, Tania Vulcano, Loco Dice, Booka Shade, Cassy, Marco Carola, Valentino Kanzyani and Satoshi Tomiie have spun there, along with Romanian DJs like Livo & Roby.
