Osamu M started Djing after being inspired
by Danny Tenaglia. In April 1999, Osamu started his own night
"Opera House" at Maniac Love club in Tokyo., His
style, playing a long 8hrs set every month, grasped the hearts
of many clubbers. In April 2001, as resident dj at Maniac
Love for the opening of his own 1st "Submerge" event,
Osamu played along Steve Lawler and left a big impact on people's
minds. Then in August of the same year, it was Rowan Blades,
then Lee Burridge in November, creating more buzz for his
reputation. Later for the NYE countdown 2002, Osamu played
at Maniac Love showcasing his progressive style with the global
scene in mind and playing deep, tribal yet groovy tracks and
his storytelling like sets, taking people on a special journey
into his world of house music.
His talent was soon recognized by John Digweed and in January
2002, Osamu played for Kiss100 FM for the first time. In June
2002, Osamu played alongside Mara at the "Submerge"
event. Then in July, he successfully finished a 2 week tour
of China, playing at clubs such as Rojam(Shanghai), Real Love(Shanghai),
Maya(Shanghai) and La Disco(Hangzhou).
Then in September, he played a 2 hr set on Proton Radio on
the program "The Featured Artist of the Week". In
January 2003, he played with Sasha and in March, it was a
Saw Recordings event at WMC in Miami, playing alongside Satoshi
Tomiie, Lexicon Avenue and Hector Romero. Then in May, he
was invited by D! Club in Lausanne, Switzerland. Also in the
same month, he was asked to play for Digweed's Kiss100 FM
for the second time, then playing in July with Chris Fortier
and in September, with Satoshi Tomiie again at the biggest
venue in Tokyo: Ageha. In October, his track "Moon Over/Shelter"
was released through Womb Recordings and was ranked 4th on
the Balance Record Pool Chart. In November, he played with
Timo Mass for the "Ministry of Sound in Japan" event.
Also in the same month, he played with John Digweed and their
set was played on Kiss100 FM for the third time. In 2004,
Osamu toured the west coast of the US, playing in Mantra Lounge(Seattle),
Sooperqool@ 111 Minna Gallery(done by Jondi & Spech in
San Francisco), The Park Plaza Hotel(Hollywood) and The Mor(Santa
Monica). Also, that year he played at Kristal Club(Bucharest)
in Romania, then back to Japan to play with Paul Oakenfold.
In July, he played at Japan's biggest event "Dimension
K" at Ageha with Dave Seaman. Then in August, the remix
of Everything but The Girl's "Five Fanthoms" was
released on the bootleg series White X. In November, he released
an original track, "Smoky Forest", on Womb Recordings
and was ranked 5th on the Balance Pool Chart. In the same
month, he played with John Digweed again. Also in that month,
Osamu appeared on John's Kiss100 FM for the 4th time and stunned
the listeners by constructing the entire set from his own
tracks, a rarity in the house scene. At the WMC in 2005, the
likes of John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo and Desyn Masiello
heavily played the tracks of Osamu. Later Desyn's entire set
was played on the Essential Mix, thus drawing even more attention
of listeners to his quality tracks used in the set. Shortly
after the WMC in Miami, he toured California again and played
with Kazell. In April, "Waterdrop" was released
from Desyn Masiello's Alternative Route Recordings. In the
same month, he toured Jakarta and played for clubs like Stadium,
Retro and TJ's and then invited Luke Fair to play at his own
"Submerge" event in Tokyo.
Osamu's talent as a producer and as a dj has been highly
praised by top artists such as Sasha, John Digweed, Deep Dish,
Hernan Cattaneo, Steve Lawler, Dave Seaman, Satoshi Tomiie,
Desyn Masiello, Nic Fanciulli, Dj Vibe, King Unique, Chris
Fortier and Luke Fair. His bootleg remixes are always one
of the most talked about in the dj circuit and his recent
remix of Underworld's "Two Months Off" has drawn
the attention of top artists Sasha and Digweed playing it
in their set in NYC at Crobar. Since then, it has been incorporated
in the sets of world-class artists as mentioned above. Furthermore,
the remix of "Cassa De X" on Elastic Reality has
been heavily played by John Digweed, Deep Dish and Desyn Masiello.
As for John, he used this track as an opening track for all
the shows during his US tour, which brought Osamu a lot of
attention of US listeners as well as throughout the world.
For Desyn Masiello, he played the track every time in his
set for the entire year. Also, his remix of "All Is Full
of Love" by Bjork was played by John Digweed on his Kiss100
show. It was then ranked No.1 on Hernan Cattaneo's March chart.
Osamu is always searching for ways to show the crowd his
world of music. With the skill to maximize the potential of
tracks by mixing and keeping the groovy bass line, as well
as his sense of track selections to challenge the crowd, he
is an artist who is always taking people on a new special
journey into his world of music.
